NANDA-I is an international foundation that was first established in collaboration with Canada and North America in 1982, and Iran is the eighth country to join this network. Nursing diagnoses are the scientific principles on which nurses perform nursing interventions and care. With the expansion of members and membership from different countries of the world, which was possible on an individual basis, the NANDA-I Foundation changed its name to NANDA-I in order to add the international suffix (International).

Dr. Mitra Zandi, a faculty member and associate professor of nursing at Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, added two nursing diagnoses to the NANDA-I International Nursing Diagnoses for the first time from Iran in 2021 and is currently a member of the NANDA-I International Nursing Diagnoses Development Committee. The coordinator of the Iran Network and the NANDA-I International Foundation stated that the network has officially started its activities with a focus on improving patient care and developing the process of nursing education and research. He stated: Iran is the eighth country to have received permission to establish a NANDA-I network from the association.

Finally, referring to the benefits of cooperation with the NANDA-I International Association, Dr. Zandi stated that by implementing the determined programs, positive steps will be taken to improve the nursing process and diagnosis education system and, most importantly, improve patient care in the country.
